Your Wedding from a Photographer’s Point of View, Part 2 | Appleton Wedding Photographer

This is part two of a series…read part one first if you haven’t already!

The night before your wedding, while you’re at your rehearsal and (maybe) getting some sleep, Tom and I are busy making sure we are fully prepared for your big day.  Not only do we need to get a good night’s sleep, but we need to lay out EVERYTHING for the next day.  From making sure Tom’s shirt is ironed to charging extra batteries and reviewing every piece of equipment, we double-check our list to make sure we’re fully prepared to capture all of your memories.

Our daughter "helps" check our backup gear.

THE BIG DAY IS HERE!  Now that we’ve done all the planning ahead of time, you can relax and have fun knowing that Lanari Photography is prepped and ready to capture every moment.  Will every second go as planned?  Absolutely not!  But you’re hiring us for the experience to know when to make things happen and when to stand back and let the magic unfold.  Your job is to smile and enjoy every minute…the day will go by so fast, and you don’t want to worry about a thing.

Once you jet off to your honeymoon, we jet back to our studio (envision the Jetsons with a Toyota) to get down to work.  All of your images are backed up on external hard drives and taken to an offsite location in case of an emergency at our studio.  For every hour of photography on your wedding day, we spend several hours in the studio sorting, editing, and retouching the best photos to load into your online gallery.  We try to have all of your images ready for viewing within five weeks of your wedding date.  Once you have seen all of your awesome photographs, you choose the ones you want in your wedding album and the ones you want as professional prints to hang on your walls.  Then we spend more time custom designing your album(s) and retouching your prints so you have the most beautiful finished product possible.  Our work isn’t finished until your photographs, albums, and CD of images are safely in your hands.

Whew!  If it seems like a lot of work, it is!  But we have a blast doing it and hope you have a blast working with us.  I’ve always loved attending weddings and seeing what beautiful and creative ideas couples come up with.  Sometimes attending your wedding doesn’t feel like work!  Until the next day, when I can’t move my shoulders from carrying all the heavy equipment.  Maybe my final planning step should be booking a massage!
